Kuwaiti club Al-Salmiya and Egyptian striker Amr Zaki have amicably parted ways, the club announced Wednesday. In a statement published on its official website, the club said that it had officially terminated Zaki's contract. The club wished Zaki future success and thanked him for his past performance. In a Twitter post, the 30-year-old player thanked the board for "understanding his situation." The Pharaohs' striker has denied reports that he terminated his contract with the Kuwaiti side over problems with the management. He joined Al-Salmiya in June, but only scored twice in a limited number of appearances. Zaki's Future Zaki abstained from mentioning future plans. Rumours have swirled regarding a possible return to his former club, Zamalek, but both he and the Egyptian club have denied them. "I'm not thinking of playing in Egypt at the moment," Zaki said, noting that if he were to leave in January, he would prefer to play in either Europe or the Gulf. The former Wigan and Hull City forward had a strong showing in the Pharaohs' World Cup playoff against Ghana, maintaining constant pressure on the opposition's defence and scoring the first goal in a 2-1 home victory. Zaki made his debut for Egypt in 2004, helping the national side win the African Nations Cup in 2006 and 2008. The 30-year-old attacker was released by Turkish side Elazigspor last January after a largely poor performance over a six-month period.
