Sfaxien win Confederation Cup despite defeat, set up Ahly clash Tunisia's CS Sfaxien clinch the Confederation Cup title after scoring a last-gasp goal in a 2-1 defeat away to TP Mazembe Englebert on Saturday
Tunisia's Sfaxien scored a late goal to win their first African Confederation Cup title with a 3-2 aggregate victory despite slumping to a 2-1 defeat away to TP Mazembe Englebert on Saturday. Cheibane Traore put the Democratic Republic of Congo side ahead after 10 minutes and Mbwana Samatta doubled their lead 14 minutes later to level the aggregate score. The match looked as though it was heading for a draw but Fakhreddine Ben Youssef struck with one minute remaining to hand Sfaxien the title. It's their second continental triumph after they won the old CAF Cup in 1998. Sfaxien will face Egyptian giants Ahly, who won the African Champions League earlier this month, in the annual CAF Super Cup next year.
