Egypt President, PM pay condolences to Coptic Pope over church attack Coptic Pope Tawadros II receives condolences from Egypt's interim leaders after church attack kills four, including two children
Interim President Adly Mansour and Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawi paid their condolences late Monday to Coptic Pope Tawadros II after an attack on the Church of the Virgin Mary in Cairo killed four and injured 18. Army chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi also called the Pope to pay his condolences. “Egyptians are able to combat terrorism,” he said in comments reported by Al-Ahram Arabic news website. El-Beblawi described the shooting as a "cowardly criminal act" in a short press statement on Sunday. Two girls – aged 12 and eight – were among the dead, in addition to a man and a woman. Eighteen others were injured, some of whom are in a critical condition. The shooting took place on Sunday when a man opened fire randomly at a wedding ceremony before fleeing the scene. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/84455.aspx
