Egyptian Prime Minister, Essam Sharaf heads to Sudan next week, accompanied by several ministers. The visit comes after the escalation of problems between the Nile Basin countries and the recent signing of the Entebbe Agreement, a water treaty agreement that weakens Egypt's hold on the vital Nile commodity. Egypt seeks to increase the coordination with both halves of Sudan in this matter and in other strategic issues as well. The four-day ministerial visit will be split equally between Khartoum and Juba to discuss important issues regarding the relationship between Egypt and South and North Sudan. Moreover, Sharaf confirms that their visit to Khartoum and Juba is just a start and Sudan will be an important focus in the Egyptian external diplomacy in the coming period.
