Egypt's El-Neny to miss Guinea's World Cup qualified due to injury An elbow injury rules the Egyptian midfielder out of Egypt's upcoming World Cup qualifier against Guinea on Tuesday
Central midfielder Mohamed El-Neny was omitted from Egypt's squad for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier at home to Guinea after injuring his elbow in training. "El-Neny suffered an elbow injury. He needs to rest for a week,'' Egypt doctor Tarek Soliman told Ahram Sports on Sunday. The Basel man is a key player in Bob Bradley's squad as the American coach usually fields him as one of two central midfielders. Bradley has also dropped defender Wael Gomaa and defensive midfielder Hossam Ashour. Midfielder Hosni Abd-Rabou and forward Mohamed Nagy 'Gedo', who had just recovered from injuries, were deemed unfit to take part in the match. ENPPI's youngster Ahmad Refaat was also excluded from the roster due to flu. Egypt will host Guinea in the Red Sea resort of El-Gouna Tuesday in their final Group G match. The match is largely meaningless after Egypt had ensured they would finish on top of the group with one game to spare after becoming the only African team to collect maximum 15 points from five matches. The Pharaohs are anxiously waiting for the 16 September draw to learn who they would face in the final two-legged playoff as they seek to reach the World Cup for the first time since 1990.
