Coach Helmi Toulan will have to do without right-back Ahmed Samir and central defender Hani Said, when taking on South African giants Orlando Pirates in the African Champions League on Sunday, due to injury. “Samir had a fever and Said sustained a muscle strain, so they won't be able to play against Orlando Pirates. The coach decided to exclude them totally from the trip,” the team's administrative director Hamada Anwar told the club's official website on Saturday. It comes as a huge blow for Toulan, who is left with few options to improve an already sluggish defence, which conceded six goals in their last three encounters. The Whites will travel to Gouna on Saturday, just a day ahead of their crucial tie with Orlando Pirates in the third matchday of the African Champions' League group stage. Zamalek are bottom of the group with a single point, placing them in a must-win situation in order to survive in the continent's elites competition.
