BREAKING: Egyptian army declares state of emergency in Sinai, Suez Armed forces will be increasing their security checks at ports and at local and international borders
General Osama Askar head of the third field army declared on Thursday a state of emergency in the governorate of Suez and south Sinai. According to Al-Ahram Arabic news website, the deployed forces will be coordinating with navy and air forces to secure the entrances and exists of the city, in addition to deploying security check points at axles of local and international borders. The security measurements will include the five gates of ports in Suez, in addition to four ports in South Sinai. Egyptian governorates have been witnessing intermittent clashes since Tuesday when army's commander in-chief Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi announced that president Mohamed Morsi has been removed in response to the demands of millions who protested nationwide pressing for early presidential elections. On Wednsday, it was reported that at least 10 were killed in clashes between opponents and supporters of Morsi following the news of his removal In the early hours of Friday, an Egyptian soldier was killed after a group Islamic militants attacked army checkpoints and a police base in the restive North Sinai. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/75763.aspx
