Liverpool targets Ivory Coast's defender Toure: report The Ivorian defender could extend his 11-year Premier League stint by joining by joining Liverpool next season
Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Ivory Coast and Manchester City defender Kolo Toure during the summer transfer window. The 32-year-old player is free to sign for any other club as his current contract with the Citizens is due to expire by the end of this season. According to a report by Sky Sports, Liverpool are lining up a move for Toure as it is unlikely he will be offered a new deal to extend his stay at the Etihad Stadium. Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers is searching for a good defensive reinforcement since he is set to lose Jamie Carragher to retirement, while there has been speculation over the future of Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates. The Ivorian international has made only 17 appearances in all competitions for City this season. Playing regularly wasn't an easy mission for him amid the high form of Matija Nastasic and captain Vincent Kompany. Toure joined Manchester City in 2009 after spending seven years with rivals Arsenal.
