Egyptian foreign reserves up for first time in 5 months Egypt's international reserves increased by $1 billion in the month of April, to reach $14.4 billion
Net International Reserves (NIR) reached $14.42 billion at the end of April, registering the first increase since October 2012. In January 2013, foreign reserves saw a sharp decline of $1.4 billion to $13.613 billion, a level that the Central Bank of Egypt described as critical. As of the end of March 2013, net reserves had declined further to stand at $13.4 billion. The reserves have plunged by more than half since the 2011 uprising, which scared away tourists and investors, two of Egypt's main sources of foreign currency. In January 2011, they stood at around $36 billion. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/70958.aspx
