The state has ordered the detainment of 41 suspects accused of clashing with security forces in Tahrir square. On Wednesday, 53 protesters were arrested when security forces raided the square to remove barriers which were blocking the flow of traffic. . The suspects will be detained for 15 days pending investigations. Ten other suspects were sent to a juvenile detention center, while another two minors were handed over to their parents. The prosecution accused the suspects of resisting authority, attacking security forces, illegal assembly, thuggery and being in possession of weapons. A number of protesters have been holding a sit-in in the square since 22 November when President Morsi issued a constitutional declaration that critics say rendered his decisions above judicial intervention. Protesters prevented traffic from entering the square by blocking the entrances with barbed wire and metal barriers.
