Israeli authorities opened Tuesday the Karam Abou Salem crossing (Kirm Shalom) allowing in trucks loaded with aid and construction materials for international organizations in the Gaza Strip. Raed Ftooh, head of the committee responsible for coordinating traffic through the crossing, clarified that the Israeli forces occupying the area will allow entry to between 180 and 190 trucks. Goods allowed to pass also serve the economic, agricultural and transport sectors of the strip according to Ftooh. The Karam Abbou Salem crossing lies in the south east of the Gaza Strip. Ftooh explained that trucks include 13 loaded with cement and construction steel for relief organizations and their projects. Three trucks were loaded with cement for projects directed by the German Development Bank. He said that a limited amount of cooking gas would also be pumped into Gaza.
