Members of the liberal Constitution Party protesting in Tahrir Square have called off their sit-in after the party's head Mohamed El-Baradei promised to meet with them and discuss their demands. The protestors, who have been protesting for nine days, released a statement on Monday saying that their decision came after a meeting with Mostafa El-Gendy, advisor of the election committee of the party and Hossam Eissa, a founding member. El-Gendy and Eissa told the protestors that El-Baradei gave a promise to meet a group of the protesters and take the needed decisions to reach a consensus. About two hundred party members started a sit-in on 6 January at the party headquarters to demand the dismissal of the party's secretary general Emad Abu Ghazi, organizational secretary Makram Ebeid and the party's spokesperson Waleed El-Sheikh. They also called for the dissolution of the steering committee which would have restructured the party internally.
