UK minister to hold Cairo press conference on stolen Mubarak-era assets Britain's Crime Prevention Minister Jeremy Browne in Cairo to discuss developments in recovery of assets stolen by key Mubarak-era officials
Jeremy Browne, the UK's minister for crime prevention, will be holding a press conference in Cairo on Monday on the recovery of assets stolen by members of the Mubarak regime and other regimes toppled in the Arab Spring. "Stolen assets are the fruits of the labour of ordinary citizens and, as PM David Cameron has said, they rightly belong to the people of the region. The UK wants to make this happen and the Prime Minister and I are committed to doing this as swiftly as possible," Jeremy Browne announced in a press statement on Sunday. British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the formation of an asset recovery taskforce during his keynote address at the UN General Assembly in September 2012. The taskforce visited Cairo last month to strengthen links with governmental watchdogs. The findings of the taskforce are expected to be announced today during the press conference.
