Smouha's Ghanaian forward Affum moves to Switzerland without club consent Swiss side Young Boys say they have signed Ghanaian forward Affum from Smouha, who deny giving the player the green light to depart
Egyptian Premier League side Smouha said they have not allowed Samuel Affum to depart after Swiss club Young Boys announced they had signed him on a three-and-a-half year deal on Saturday. “Affum will be at the club until the summer of 2016. He will probably start training with his new teammates by the end of next week,” Young Boys said in a statement on their website, which also featured a photo of Affum holding the club's kit. However, Alexandria-based club Smouha insisted any transfer must be carried out “through the legal channels”. “Affum asked to leave and Young Boys tabled a $1.5 million offer to sign him, but we demanded 2 million euros to offload the player,” Smouha chairman Farag Amer said on the club's website. “However, apparently under pressure from his agents and the Swiss club, Affum surprisingly signed a contract with Young Boys, violating FIFA's regulations as he still has two years to run on his contract with Smouha. “We do mind to let him leave but we should receive an offer that suits his calibre ... we have all the documents which support our case, he doesn't have the right to unilaterally terminate his contract,” Amer added. The 23-year-old has been one of the best foreign players in Egyptian football since joining Smouha from Ghana's Hearts of Oak in the summer of 2011. The pacey deep-lying forward scored seven league goals before the competition's cancellation last February in the wake of the Port Said football tragedy, three behind top scorer Ahmed Raouf of ENPPI (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports)
