Belts, leather, metallic, retro patterns are hot this winter
What's been warming up the winter fashion season? Here's a look at Prada, Valentino and Louis Vuitton
Published in Ahram Online on 18 - 12 - 2012

Designers Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Altuzarra, Valentino, DKNY display a broad spectrum of contemporary designs in a cross-section between day and night wear.
Four trends have been stylised, putting the clothes on the edge of "outstanding."
##
##
Starting, of course with one-of-a-kind Louis Vuitton with shiny sequins –another way to think of them is coin-like decorative beads. This is imported from nomadic cultures but advanced by using them to decorate vests and trousers. The sequin trend was already with us since last year; however, seeing LV's choice to trend it on trousers took fashionistas by surprise; it's only for the fearless pioneer fashionistas.
##
##
The second trend is bought to us by the fashion name that amused us with its high-in-the-sky creativity this season: Prada. The fashion powerhouse introduced materials with strong geometric patterns; the playfulness it expresses is definitely cheering up the winter, however, on the catwalk Prada displayed the pattern pants on pattern shirt which is too much to comprehend at once. If the patterned trousers are dressed on a plain shirt it is much less disturbing to the eye. Of course, one doesn't have to literally copy the catwalk model look. The Prada pattern trousers trend is insanely flattering; not to mention it can be worn day or night.
##
##
The third highly popular trend? The massive, thick belt, since it highlights the waist and flaunts curves. Gucci and Altuzarra styled the thick belt on sensational chiffon dresses and on long vests. Th retro/vintage thick belt provides the body a well-defined and well-proportioned structure. This season the thick belt comes in soft, comfortable and flexible fabrics, like stain. There's nothing that doesn't go well with this belt: they fit perfectly on dresses, shirts, jackets, coats, skirt and vests.
##
The fourth and last trend for the season is nothing seen before. Let's try to imagine it: leather is cut into tiny flower shapes to resemble lace and bought together to form a dress. In general, leather dresses are "edge" with overtones of sexiness, something you would see Angelina Jolie or Rihanna wearing. It reflects a wild side. However this season the tailored dresses, which Valentino made a bold entrance with, have been taken to a new evolutionary level, appearing soft and delicate.
