Ahly yet to decide Abou-Treika's fate Ahly say that a decision has not yet been reached on whether to lay off club icon Mohamed Abou-Treika following his decision to skip the Egypt Super Cup
Hady Khashaba, member of Ahly's executive committee, which is responsible for taking decisions regarding the football team, confirmed on Monday that the committee had not yet decided the fate of midfielder Mohamed Abou-Treika, adding that the final decision will be announced on Tuesday The talented playmaker missed Ahly's 2-1 win over ENPPI in the Egypt Super Cup, after he refused to take part in Sunday's game in support of the demands of the team's die-hard fans who reject the resumption of domestic football. Abou-Treika's decision angered the club's board, which insisted that the player will be severely sanctioned. "All reports which suggested that the club would release Abou-Treika are completely false," Khashaba told the club's official website on Monday. "The committee will hold a meeting on Tuesday after hearing the team's technical staff's point of view concerning the player's behaviour," he added. "We know that Abou-Treika is a great player, but the club also has rules which should be respected.'' "The anticipated decision will preserve the club's rules and the player as a club icon,'' Khashaba concluded.
