Morsi visits injured soldiers in hospital, Tantawi awaits him Egypt's president, who for 'security reasons' did not attend Tuesday's funeral, heads to Al-Qubba Military Hospital to visit injured soldiers
President Mohamed Morsi visited Al-Qubba Military Hospital Tuesday to enquire after the soldiers injured during Sunday's deadly attack that left sixteen soldiers dead in North Sinai. Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi alongside the minister of military production and several of the hospital's senior physicians were waiting for the president to arrive. Morsi checked on the current state of four of the injured, two of who are army soldiers while the other two are police officers. Earlier Tuesday, the funeral of sixteen borders guards began in Nasr City at the Memorial of the Unknown Soldiers with thousands of mourners in attendance. The highest officials include the head of Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and Defense Minister Tantawi and Chief of Staff Sami Anan. President Morsi did not attend the military funeral after being advised not to for 'security reasons', following an attack on Islamist Prime Minster Hisham Qandil by angry protesters at the funeral prayers earlier.
