Gerets claims Morocco's World Cup hopes still alive
Coach praises his players despite their 2-2 draw with Ivory Coast in the qualifiers, promising to rectify the mistakes in coming games

Moroccan coach Eric Gerets has said the national side's match against Ivory Coast in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers was difficult despite the 2-2 draw.
"I knew that the game against Ivory Coast wouldn't be easy for the players," Gerets said at a post-game press conference.
"I am happy about the players' performance as they edged to snatch the draw," he added.
Morocco salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to Ivory Coast in their second World Cup qualifier on Sunday when Hamza Abourazzouk scored a late goal.
Ivory Coast's central defender Kolo Toure took the Elephants into the lead on the hour-mark as they looked on course for a win in Morocco.
"We weren't on-form in the first half but in the second we did our best to salvage the draw. I congratulate Abourazzouk for snatching the late draw for Morocco," said Gerets.
"The team suffers from the absence of players due to injuries but the alternative players were capable enough," the tactician added.
"I promise Moroccan fans we will achieve more in the coming games as our chances of reaching the World Cup are still alive," Gerets concluded.
Meanwhile, Ivory Coast's new coach, Sabri Lamouchi, revealed his frustration over losing vital points in the game against Morocco.
"We were better throughout the game so I am disappointed by the draw," Lamouchi said.
"Ivory Coast players performed well but bad luck denied their efforts," he added.
Lamouchi, a former France international midfielder of Tunisian descent, promised to analyse the mistakes his players made during the game to avoid repeating them in future.
