Algeria's Ghezzal delight for Levante's Europa League place Algerian striker Abdelkader Ghezzal describes Levante's Europa League place as 'historical' adding he aims to stay in the Liga
Levante's Algerian striker Abdelkader Ghezzal expressed his delight on Monday, after helping his side to qualify for the Europa League. The 28-year-old striker, who had failed to score with Levante since his arrival in January from Italian side Bari on a six-month loan deal, scored twice on Sunday's 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, helping his club to end sixth in the Liga's table. ''It is historical for Levante. It is the first time for the club to reach the Europa League. The players are very happy with this achievement, which was a good recompense for our efforts during the season,'' Ghezzal told French magazine France Football. Ghezzal added he aims that Levante make his deal permanent as he enjoyed playing in the Liga. ''I like football here. In Spain it is so different from Italy. I want to continue with Levante but it is not my decision. The two clubs should accept the deal,'' he added. Concerning his exclusion from the Algerian squad which will play in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers, Ghezzal is frustrated with the coach's decision, but added that as a player he has to accept the decision. ''I am so disappointed after my exclusion from the team, but what is important now is that the team makes a good start in the World Cup qualifiers,'' he concluded.
