Aston Villa Coach Dean Smith announced that he is worried about the injury of Egyptian international winger Mahmoud 'Trezeguet' Hassan after being taken off injured and in tears during the 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Saturday. "He [Trezeguet] played well again today and played his part but unfortunately he's gone off injured," Dean Smith was quoted as saying after the game.
"We're a little bit worried to see what the extent of the injury is," he added.
The 26-year-old, who opened his scoring account with Aston Villa in the Premier League this season after netting twice in a 3-1 win over Fulham last week, was unlucky in not having scored in the second half after rattling the post with a powerful shot before being taken off injured and in tears in the 82nd minute. The Egyptian star received treatment from Villa's medical staff on the pitch but he couldn't continue. Jacob Ramsey then came on as a substitute.
"He's a little bit upset but we'll see over time," the Aston Villa coach said.
Trezeguet, who made 22 appearances with Aston Villa in all competitions so far this season, will undergo further medical tests to determine the seriousness of his injury and the time he needs to recover.
Aston Villa are 10th in the English Premier League teams' table with 44 points after playing 30 games so far this season.
