“The Survivors”, an exhibition of acrylic on canvas paintings by Mutaz Elemam, is on display at UBUNTU gallery. Born in Kasala in the eastern province of Sudan, Elemam lives and works between Cairo and Sudan. A graduate of the department of Fine Arts at the Sudan University of Science and Technology in Khartoum, he is a member of the General Union of Sudanese Plastic Artists in addition to the Cairo Atelier. He is fully devoted to his painting practice, which is strongly influenced by the places where he has worked, lived, and continues to experience today.
As well as numerous solo exhibitions, the artist has participated in such events as the 5th Beijing Biennale in 2012, “The Khartoum School: The Making of the Modern Art Movement in Sudan (1945-Present)” exhibition at the Sharjah Art Foundation in 2016, the Biennale de Sarria in Spain in 2017, and Shazar Gallery in Naples, Italy, in 2019. His works can be seen in both private collections and public institutions. The exhibition is on until 13 March
