The Egyptian cabinet postponed on Thursday first-term exams in schools and universities until after the end of the mid-year vacation amid a second wave of the coronavirus. The cabinet also ordered remaining classes in the first semester of the current academic take place only through an online system starting Saturday. The decisions come as apart of the government's strategy to mediate against the repercussions of the spread of the coronavirus, and in the interest of the health and safety of all members of the educational process, including students, faculty members, and teachers, the statement noted. On 20 December, the ministry of education had decided to make the attendance of the students optional for the rest of the first semester while leaving schools open to receive students willing to attend.
