Chelsea's Ivorian striker Didier Drogba said Thursday that his goal against Barcelona in Wednesday's Champions League semis was the perfect response to those who demanded he retire at the end of this season. The 34-year-old striker scored the winner on Chelsea's 1-0 steal from Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semis at Stamford Bridge. "For those who said that I was too old, they saw that I could run maybe one, two or three more years," Drogba was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. African footballer of the year in 2006 and 2009, Drogba's contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the season and his fate with the club still in doubt. The Blues have offered a one-year extension deal but the player wants two years. Concerning Wednesday's victory, Drogba admits that his side was lucky on winning this difficult match despite Barcelona's dominant possession during the game. "That's football, and I think we were a bit lucky. You have to work for luck to come and to happen. We worked a lot. We worked hard." He concluded.
