The Egyptian Premier League's start date, originally set for 7 August, will be brought forward by one day due to the elections of the country's newly-created parliamentary chamber, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) said on Tuesday. The EFA said in a statement that league matches which were due to be played on 11/12 August will be brought forward because security forces will be busy securing the Senate elections on those two days. "The competition will now be resumed on 6 August instead of 7 August with one of the rescheduled games (from earlier rounds)," the statement read. A full league schedule will be announced once the EFA gets the necessary security clearances, the statement added. Sports activities have been suspended since mid-March due to the coronavirus, but the government has decided to allow sports teams to resume starting 20 June, giving the green light for the EFA to resume its competitions. The EFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have implemented a new set of guidelines for precautionary measures including testing, training and medical precautions. The EFA has already finalised its medical tests for most of the clubs including players, coachces and employees. Several teams have already started trainings. The EFA announced earlier this week that from among all tests, 27 persons had tested positive and are now in isolation according to the protocol.
