Latest on Covid-19 in Egypt

• Number of positive Covid-19 cases reached 366 on Monday night. The death toll reached 19.

• The virus has been detected in 24 out of Egypt's 27 governorates, with the most infections in Damietta, Daqahliya, and Minya.

• Mass prayers at mosques and churches are banned, as are religious festivities.

• University final exams have been postponed and all schools and universities have been shut down for four weeks beginning 14 March.

• The House of Representatives decided on 23 March to postpone the House's plenary sessions that were scheduled to take place from 29 March to 12 April. The decision comes in accordance with Article 277 of the House's internal by-laws which gives the speaker the right to change the date of plenary meetings whenever necessary.

• The government is contemplating setting up a fund for day labourers who lost their source of income due to the spread of the coronavirus and is currently preparing statistics regarding their numbers.

Egypt's biggest and most crowded outdoor markets —Attaba, Moski, Tawfiqiya and Shubra Al-Kheima — have been locked down.

Egypt's Immigration Ministry announced on 20 March that 1,700 Egyptian nationals in Sudan had returned to Egypt by bus after being stuck in Sudan following the suspension of flights which started on 13 March.

• All museums and archaeological sites in the country have been shut down and sports clubs closed since 21 March.

• Hotel restaurants, nightclubs and health clubs in the Greater Cairo area are open only to those staying in hotels.

• Cinemas and theatres have been closed since 19 March.

• The Press Syndicate shut down its headquarters.
• The Bar Associatio also closed after a member had tested positive for the virus.

Egypt's military will provide the public with chlorine, alcohol wipes, mask and gloves at reasonable prices.

• The export of face masks and all types of alcohol and alcoholic disinfectants is halted.

• The army's chemical warfare units are cleaning parts of the capital, including metro stations.
