Zamalek boss Patrice Carteron said he is utterly proud with his side's achievements this week, which saw the White Knights win the CAF Super Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup. Six days after winning their fourth CAF Super Cup at the expense of African Champions Esperance de Tunis, Zamalek managed to win the Egyptian Super Cup after defeating Ahly 4-3 on penalties following a 0-0 draw in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. "What we did is historic," Carteron told the post-match news conference. "I am proud with my players' performance. We played a historic game against Esperance and we defeated a team that were enjoying a 15-game unbeaten run," he added, referring to Ahly's impressive domestic form. The French coach defended his defensive strategy during the game, adding he was forced to resort to such tactics to contain Ahly's huge pressure. Carteron asked the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to review their decision to hold another Cairo derby, this time in the domestic league, on Monday. Zamalek will host Esperance de Tunis in the first leg of the African Champions League quarters on Friday, four days after the league derby, while Ahly will take on Sundowns of South Africa one day later. "Ahly and Zamalek lost the Champions League title before due to their busy match calendar," he added. "I ask them to adjourn the game to give the two sides the chance to recover ahead of the African games."
