The Grand Imam of Egypt's Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb discussed on Thursday cooperation with Hamad Salem bin Kardous Al-Ameri, Director-General of UAE's Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, in Africa. According to a statement by Al-Azhar, El-Tayeb said during his meeting with Al-Ameri that Al-Azhar is ready to cooperate with Zayed foundation to establish Arabic language teaching centres in Africa. The teaching centres are meant to be similar to Zayed Centre, located in Cairo's district of Nasr City, which provides scholarships for African students as well as training for African imams in Al-Azhar, said the statement. From his side, Al-Ameri expressed the aspiration of his foundation to cooperate more with Al-Azhar and benefit from its experiences in humanitarian and charity works especially in African countries which lack Arabic language teachers. Al-Ameri also revealed in the meeting that Zayed foundation is going to found a university in Chad as a start for other similar projects in Africa.
