Egypt and the US have reached on Wednesday a deal to revamp a bilateral air transport agreement to exchange expertise, hone skills through training cadres and modernize EgyptAir fleet. The agreement, signed in 1964, is deemed one of the oldest deals currently in force in the region. The deal was reached during a meeting, which brought Egypt's Civil Aviation Minister Younes El-Masry and a delegation from the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Talks between both sides touched on boosting cooperation in the civil aviation domain and enhancing air traffic between the two countries. The minister stressed the depth of the bilateral strategic and economic partnership in various fields, especially the aviation industry. Seeking to reach maximum security and safety standards at the Egyptian airports, the Egyptian Aviation Ministry is keen on reinforcing cooperation with all partners, especially the US, Masry said. In the meantime, the US delegation hailed the relations between the two countries in the aviation industry, and praised the progress achieved in the Egyptian civil aviation sector.
