Book discussion: Holy Talk at Merit Poet Ramy Yahia, criticised by Saudi preachers, will discuss his controversial poems collection at Merit on Wednesday
Merit publishing house will host poet Ramy Yahia on Wednesday 29 February at 7:00pm to discuss his newly released poems collection Kalam Karim (Holy Talk). The discussion will be run by Poet Abdel-Hakam Soliman. Kalam Karim poems collection was met with early criticism by a Saudi preacher who accused Yahia with “intertextuality” with the Holy Qur'an after the author published excerpts of the collection in Alghawoon Lebanese literary magazine; yet Yahia insisted on publishing the collection as it is. Ramy Yahia, a young Egyptian poet, has two previous slang poems collections: Sa'louk (Wretched) and Algharib (The Stranger).
