Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazi played on Saturday his first game for West Bromwich this season after returning from a lengthy ankle injury as he came off the bench against Middlesbrough to secure a 1-0 away victory for his side. He replaced Jake Livermore in the 90th minute and got a yellow card in injury time. The 28-year old towering defender missed the start of the Championship campaign as he underwent an ankle surgery on July. He was able to resume trainings in September but did not feature in any matches at West Bromwich until the game against Middlesbrough in the 12th matchday of the Championship. Hegazi – who joined the then Premier League side West Bromwich in July 2017 - have already played the full 90 minutes for Egypt when they beat Botswana 1-0 on 14 October during the international break. West Bromwich coach Slaven Bilic said he is glad with Hegazi's return and that he will add more strength to the squad but he can't confirm he will get back to the starting lineup for now because he has a winning team. West Bromwich are currently top of the Championship table with 25 points after 12 games.
