The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and France surged 36.2 percent from January to May 2019 to reach €1.212 billion, compared to €823.7 million in the corresponding period in 2018, the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) said on Monday in a report on trade and investment between Egypt and France. According to the report, Egypt's exports to France recorded €334.2 million in the first five months of 2019 with an increase of 15.6 percent compared to the same period last year, the report said. The Egyptian imports from France recorded €785.5 million in the first five months this year compared to €534.5 million in the correspondent period in 2018. Wheat topped Egypt's imports at a value of €106.4 million, followed by pharmaceuticals which recorded €43.4 million. The French investments in Egypt exceed €4.5 billion in the industrial sector, including food industries, chemicals, building materials, automotive, pharmaceuticals, banking, communications and logistics.
