Zamalek's Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi has undergone surgery on a foot injury that will keep him out for up to six weeks, the Tunisian Football Federation (TFF) announced on Wednesday. Sassi fractured a foot bone in Zamalek's 1-0 win over Hassania Agadir in the Confederation Cup quarter-final second-leg on Sunday. The team maintained their lead after he was replaced in the first half to reach the semis. After the game, Zamalek said their midfield linchpin would be sidelined for around six weeks, which means they will have to do without him until the summer Africa Cup of Nations. The 27-year-old underwent surgery in Tunisia upon the request of the (TFF) as they seek to prepare him ahead for the Nations Cup, which will take place in Egypt in June and July. "Sassi underwent surgery and he needs around six weeks of rehabilitation," Tunisia's doctor Souheil El-Chemaly told an Egyptian radio station on Wednesday. Sassi has been a revelation since joining Zamalek from Saudi side Al-Nasr last summer, scoring seven goals and providing three assists.
