Under Egypt's current chairmanship of the African Union (AU), Africa is highly likely to witness a significant improvement in the healthcare services, especially those related to treating communicable and chronic diseases, Executive Director of UNAIDS Michel Sidibé said. During a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Tuesday, Sidibé praised the advanced medical and pharmaceutical sector in Egypt, Cabinet's Spokesman Nader Saad said in a press release. Hailing Egypt's pioneering role in providing free detection and treatment services for patients with Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and non-communicable diseases, Sidibé noted that Egypt could help African nations to improve their disease prevention and treatment services. Madbouly stressed that Egypt will spare no efforts to provide the African nations with any medical or pharmaceutical assistance lauding President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's initiative to cure one million African citizens from Hepatitis C virus and provide free HCV detection and treatment services for the African expats in Egypt. Moreover, the PM asserted Egypt's willingness to bolster cooperation with all the regional as well as international organizations concerned to step up efforts aimed at preventing diseases and endemics in Africa.
