Red Hot Chili Peppers to perform in Egypt for the first time
Published in Ahram Online on 16 - 01 - 2019

American rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers will be coming to Egypt for the first time in a concert at the Giza pyramids on 15 March.
The band will go on tour starting 17 February on stops including Australia and New Zealand, with Egypt being the latest announced stop so far.
One of the best-selling bands of all time, the rock group formed in Los Angeles in 1983. Their style also has an emphasis on funk with elements of punk rock and psychedelic rock.
The band currently consists of founding members vocalist Anthony Kiedis and bassist Flea (Michael Peter Balzary), longtime drummer Chad Smith, and former touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer.
Their album Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) was their first major commercial success. Their later album Californication in 1999 became the band's biggest commercial success with 16 million copies sold worldwide.
The band's 10th studio album, I'm with You, was released in 2011 and topped the charts in 18 different countries.
The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2012. That same year, three of the band's albums, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication, and By the Way, were ranked among Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
The Egypt concert is organised by Nacelle, an Egyptian music entertainment company. Tickets will be available starting 18 January.
