Ahly striker Salah Mohsen will be out of action for five weeks after picking up a groin injury in his team's local league 0-1 loss against Arab Contractors, the club announced on Thursday. Mohsen, who is regarded by fans and pundits as the future number-one striker for Egypt and Ahly, was forced off the pitch during his club's game against the Contractors in the local league after only five minutes. Ahly doctor Khaled Mahmoud has revealed that the player will have to undergo a five-week rehabilitation programme before he can go back to training. Mohsen is now part of Ahly's long list of injured players, namely Walid Azaro, Amr El-Solia, Ahmed Fathy, Mohamed Hany and Mohamed El-Shennawi, in addition to long-term absentees due to injury Ali Maloul and Junior Ajayi. The 20-year-old forward is expected to miss six games with the team in the local league as well as two in the CAF Champions League. With a large number of important players sidelined, the Cairo giants lost a record-extending CAF Champions League title to Tunisia's Esperance earlier this month, and then were eliminated from the Zayed Champions Cup against the Emirati Al-Wasl on Thursday before tasting defeat locally against Arab Contractors. Ahly will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face off with Petrojet on Saturday in a game rescheduled from the 9th round of the local league. Petrojet are 14th in the standings with 15 points from 15 games, while Ahly are last with 11 points from seven games. The title holders Ahly had to have a number of their local-league games postponed due to their participation in the CAF Champions League, leaving the team with a heavy match congestion in December.
