Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he is only considering a new central defender during the January transfer window

Wenger says he may buy a player if Belgium international Thomas Vermaelen continues to struggle with an Achilles' injury that has kept him out of the team since August.
Wenger says that he is "just waiting to know more about him, and then at the end of January we will have to make a decision."
Arsenal is third in the Premier League ahead of Wednesday's match against second-place Manchester City.
