Freedom and Justice Party leaders meet PM Ganzouri ahead of People's Assembly opening Freedom and Justice Party leaders say it is "premature" to discuss the fate of the government of premier Ganzouri as the opening of the People's Assembly approaches
Mohamed Morsi, head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), announced in a press conference Saturday that he met with Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri to discuss the party's “legislative agenda” for the country ahead of the scheduled opening of the People's Assembly 23 January. FJP Secretary-General Mohamed Saad El-Katatny, who also attended the meeting, described debate over whether Ganzouri's interim government would remain in office or be replaced after thePeople's Assemblyconvenes as “premature”, adding that the matter was not brought up during the meeting with Ganzouri. El-Katatny further said the meeting with Ganzouri was “friendly” and “brotherly,” describing Ganzouri as a “dedicated” individual. El-Katatny reiterated the Brotherhood's stance, which is against opening the floor for presidential candidacies on 25 January, as suggested by a group of political figures, saying the Brotherhood supports the continuation of the transitional period mapped out by the ruling military council, which is scheduled to hand over power 30 June 2012.
