The Confederation of African Football (CAF) set 14 September as the date for Ahly's encounter against Horoya FC of Guinea in the first leg of the African Champions League quarter finals, the Cairo giants announced Tuesday via their official website. In Monday's draw that was held at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, the Red Devils received an easy draw with Horoya, while avoiding a confrontation with the challenging Algerian side ES Setif. The first leg will be played in Guinea while the second leg will be in Cairo on 22 September. Ahly, the record eight-time African Champions, finished on top of Group A ahead of Tunisian giants Esperance of Tunisia. After losing last-year's final, the Cairo giants are hoping to claim their ninth African title and first since 2013. If they manage to progress to the semis, they will face the winner between ES Setif of Algeria and defending champions Wydad Casablanca of Morocco. Ahly are currently jointly on top of the Egyptian league with 11 points with rivals Pyramids FC, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Smouha earlier on Sunday.
