Egypt's National Media Authority announced that they will broadcast 22 games of 2018 World Cup games including pharaohs matches to meet the Egyptian fans demands of watching the games of their team.
In a statement, Egypt's National Media Authority said that they asked FIFA to buy the broadcast rights of the 2018 World Cup games, from 14 June to 15 July, to air 28 matches including Egypt's national team games on the terrestrial broadcast but the Egyptian officials didn't receive any answer for their request.
"Egypt's National Media Authority president sent a letter to FIFA on 6 June, asking them to have the rights to air 28 World Cup games including Egypt's national team matches for a determined fees," read a statement released by the Egypt's National Media Authority late on Sunday.
"As the FIFA didn't reply for the message, Egypt's National Media Authority did their best to have the Egyptian citizen's rights according to laws, we asked the Competition Authority to get their decision,"
"Competition Authority decided on their meeting held on 10 June that the Egyptian television has the legal rights to air the national team games in World Cup, hereby the National Media Authority has the rights of broadcasting 22 games including Egypt's national team games on the terrestrial television," the statement added.
"Egypt's National Media Authority president decided to air the games on the Egyptian terrestrial television to save the citizen's rights of watching his national team's games,"
Qatari TV network beIN Sports has already obtained the exclusive rights to broadcast World Cup matches for the Middle East and Northern Africa region on its satellite channels.
Egypt will kick off their World Cup campaign 15 June against Uruguay and then face hosts Russia on 19 June. Their final group-stage match will be against Saudi Arabia on 25 June.
