Egypt's foreign minister Sameh Shoukry discussed bilateral relations with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides on Tuesday in Cairo, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement. The two officials discussed the upcoming visit by Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades to Egypt as part of the ‘Roots Revival Week' event, which will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh and Alexandria from 30 April to 6 May for the Egyptian, Greek and Cypriot communities in the three countries. The two FMs also discussed bilateral cooperation in agriculture, education and industry, as well as trilateral cooperation with Greece. Christodoulides discussed with Shoukry the latest challenges his country is facing in gas exploration in its territorial waters. Shoukry and Christodoulides also discussed the latest developments concerning the situation in Northern Cyprus, as well as recent developments in the region, including the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the Syrian war and the situation in Libya.
