Monday, which marks the springtime feast of Sham El-Nassim in Egypt, will be a paid vacation for all employees in the private sector, Egypt's Minister of Manpower Mohamed Saafan announced on Thursday, according to Ahram Arabic news website. The springtime festival dates back to Pharaonic times and is often celebrated with family outings at parks or other outdoor excursions. It falls on the Monday after Easter and is a public holiday. Coptic Orthodox Christians, who comprise the vast majority of Christian worshippers in Egypt, will celebrate Easter this Sunday. The Central Bank of Egypt has designated the coming Sunday and Monday as official holidays for the banking sector.
