Portugal coach Fernando Santos has hailed team star Cristiano Ronaldo after the latter hit the net twice in stoppage time to beat Egypt 2-1 in Friday's World Cup warm-up friendly, insisting that the European champions were better than the Pharaohs in general. “We were better overall,” Santos said after the match. “We were not so good collectively in the second half but our individual creativity helped us win the game. "In the last minutes we were better, created four chances and showed great determination to turn it around. They showed that they did not want to lose," he added. A delightful goal from Liverpool star Mohamed Salah put Egypt on the verge of a famous friendly win, only for Real Madrid's Ronaldo to head home twice in stoppage time, one with the help of video replay, to give his side a 2-1 comeback victory. "And with Ronaldo, it's about a goal and another goal," the coach concluded. At this summer World Cup in Russia, Egypt will face the hosts along with South American powerhouses Uruguay and Arab Gulf side Saudi Arabia in Group A. Portugal are in Group B and will face Spain, Morocco and Iran. The Egyptian team will face Greece on Tuesday as part of their current training camp in Switzerland as they gear up for their first World Cup appearance in 28 years.
