Art Alert: Lebanese French Bachar Mar-Khalifé to perform in Cairo
Published in Ahram Online on 22 - 03 - 2018

Part of the ongoing Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF), in one evening of music several Egyptian and international musicians will take the stage of the Greek Campus on Thursday, 22 March.
Among the highlights of the evening is Lebanese/French Bachar Mar-Khalifé, son of the renowned oud player and composer Marcel Khalifé, who nevertheless carved his own strong reputation in the international music scene.
While fusing contemporary music with jazz and electronics, Khalifé will perform on piano, synthesizer, and provide vocals. He will be accompanied by Aleksander Angelov on bass guitar, Dogan Poyraz on drums and Priam ‘Desmond' Bosano on saz.
This is not first appearance of Bachar Mar-Khalifé in Egypt, as he already performed in Cairo — however, when accompanying Marcel Khalifé in concert. This time he will present his own original music.
In same evening, other musicians will take the stage consecutively.
Representing bass music, downtempo, electronic and techno, Bit-Tuner from Switzerland will be joined by Andro El-Hawy and El-Sweasy), brought by Egypt's 100 Copies music label.
100 Copies also showcases Egyptian musicians Chipsy and Sadat performing with Teklife (TASO and DJ Tyje) from Chicago, USA.
The concert is part of the music segment of D-CAF, a multidisciplinary festival presenting contemporary arts, running between 8 and 29 March. Check the D-CAF complete programme here.
Programme:
Thursday, 22 March, 8pm
The Greek Campus, 28 Falaki Street, Bab Al-Louk, Downtown Cairo
