Egypt offers condolences for victims of Florida mass shooting

Egypt's Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday offering condolences to the United States for yesterday's mass shooting at a high school in Florida, which killed 17 students and injured dozens others.
"Egypt offers sincere condolences and sympathy to the US administration and the families of the victims,” the statement said, adding that “the Egyptian government and people stand in solidarity with the American people in their hardship."
"Egypt affirms that such outrageous acts of violence that target innocents reflect a hostile ideology that incites hatred and violates human dignity,” the ministry said, stressing that “those responsible for this disgraceful act must be held accountable."
Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel identified the gunman as Nikolas Cruz, 19, a former student at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland who had been expelled for "disciplinary reasons."
