Manchester City are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City's Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez as coach Pep Guardiola turned his attention to the 26-year-old after the injury of Leroy Sane, French magazine France football reported on Tuesday. Guardiola missed out on the signing of Alexis Sanchez, who joined City rivals Manchester United, and Sane's injury has alarmed City's chiefs. According to France football, City tabled a 68-million-euro bid to acquire the services of Mahrez, who scored eight goals and provided seven assists in his 22 Premier League appearances with City this season. Leicester boss Claude Puel has insisted Mahrez is not for sale, but City look set to test their resolve with a late bid.
Mahrez joined Leicester from French side Le Havre in the winter of 2014 is under contract with the Premier League side until the summer of 2020. He helped the club win a historical Premier League title in 2015 and he was named African player of the year in 2015.
