The sixth edition of Mapping Possibilities, an experimental project of audio-visual performances, will be held at Zawya on 4 January. Mapping Possibilities pairs up audio artists with visual artists to collaborate and explore new ways of digital production. The first performance will feature music by Nur (Nour Emam Refai), with visuals by Nurah Farahat, and the second set will feature Zuli's audio/visual work. According to the event description, “in this collective, visual artists focus on generative and interactive real-time visual experimentation using coding, open source programming platforms, alongside more traditional media such as video and 3D animation. Sound artists take a more sound-oriented approach, featuring non-dance electronic music [such as] abstract, noise, drone, ambient, glitch, etc.” The project continues to showcase independent and original work from the contemporary Egyptian scene, free from institutional rigidity and despite a lack of funding.
