Two major Alexandria ports closed for third day due to bad weather, Sharm port reopens

Alexandria Port Authority (APA) decided on Monday to keep two major ports in the Mediterranean governorate closed for a third day due to bad weather conditions, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
In statements to the press, the APA's spokesman said the ports of Boughazi and Dekheila will remain closed. They were initially shut down on Saturday after the Egyptian Meteorological Authority recorded a rise in waves and an increase in wind speed that might pose problems to martime navigation.
Ghandour added that the decision was taken to save lives and protect ships, docks and cargo.
Separately, a spokesman for the Red Sea Ports Authority announced on Monday that Sharm El-Sheikh Marine Port in South Sinai was reopened on Monday following a one-day closure on Saturday due to unstable weather and high winds. The port was reopened due to improvements in the weather.
The meteorological authority also announced that it expects rainfall in several parts of Egypt on Monday as cold weather continues for the third day this week.
High waves and heavy winds are expected to cause turbulent conditions in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, the authority said.
Alexandria will witness a high of 18 degrees Celsius and a low of 12 on Monday, as winter rain continues to fall on the city.
