Programme: Fourth Jesuit Film festival showcases Egyptian shorts at Cairo's Zawya Cinema
Published in Ahram Online on 31 - 10 - 2017

Zawya Cinema in downtown Cairo will host the Fourth Jesuit Film Festival (JFF) between 5 and 7 November, showing a total of 15 short films from Egyptian filmmakers.
The festival will screen shorts produced in 2016/17, including both documentaries and narratives, along with a film competition featuring awards in three categories.
The JFF is an annual travelling event organized by Cairo's El-Nahda Association for Scientific Renaissance.
A key aim of the JFF is to encourage participation by filmmakers from around the country, including the governorates of Upper Egypt, with workshops arranged to encourage participation and share ideas.
The results of the workshops have already been screened at Wekalet Behna in Alexandria and will be screened at Cairo's El-Nahda centre on 10 and 11 November.
Some of the short films have already been screened at other festivals in Egypt and abroad: El-Bananowa (The Builders) was shown at the Dubai International Film festival; 1+1 Makes a Pharoah's Chocolate Cake was screened at the Berlinale; and Ana Wel Doctor Sobhy (Me and Dr. Sobhy) made an appearance at the Ismailia Film festival.
The JFF screenings start at 7pm, and will be followed by discussions.
