Juhayna to be compensated LE93.7 million for factory fire Insurance payout falls short of factory's LE140-million book value; Shortfall translates into LE45.6-million loss in company's 4Q results
Egypt's Juhayna Food Industries will receive LE93.7 million in compensation from the Mohandess insurance company for damages incurred to one of its factories in 2010. Juhayna, Egypt's largest producer of dairy products and juices, lost its yoghurt factory, Egyfood, in a fire last year. According to Juhayna, the book value of the asset in question is LE139.3 million. The difference between the asset's book value and the amount reached in the deal will translate into LE45.6 million of extraordinary losses, which will be recorded in the company's 4Q 2011 results. Investment bank Beltone expects Juhayna's net profits after tax in 2011 to stand at LE211 million versus previous forecasts of LE254 million. Beltone hasn't reduced its valuation for Juhayna's share price, however, keeping it at LE5.80 per share, 48.7 percent higher than its current LE3.90 market price.
