Winning the opener is great, Algeria's test will be tough: Morocco U-23 coach Morocco's coach Pim Verbeek hails his team marvelous start in the London Olympic Games qualifiers on Saturday
Morocco's U-23 team coach Pim Verbeek has praised his players for their outstanding performance as they snatched three precious points following the 1-0 win over Nigeria in the 2012 London Olympic Games African qualifiers opener. “I am pleased with the way we played and it is great to win the first match. We created many chances that should have seen us score more than the one goal we got,” Verbeek was quoted as saying by the confederation of African football (CAF) official website. “If there is something that l can tell my team about today game it is that we should learn to put away chances we create. “Nigeria is such a side that we were not safe at 1-0 and needed to get more goals. Defensively l think that we were solid, well organized and we kept Nigeria at bay so l am very happy about our first game,” the Dutch coachadded. The Moroccan team will take on Algeria in the coming round, and the game will not be an easy one according to their coach. “We however need to forget this win now and focus only for the next two matches. We meet Algeria next and that is a derby which means it will be a tough encounter. “I expect my injured players to be back for that game. We have two days rest, which is hardly enough but that is the same for all teams,” concluded Verbeek.
